Dear Ladies,
Each of you donated a knitted cap that I selected at Texas Oncology. Since I've lost all my hair, and rather quickly after treatments started, I was so pleased to have the choice of pretty caps to cover my head and keep it warm. Your sensitivity and generosity are very much appreciated. I'm sure there are many, many of us undergoing chemo who are happily sporting caps you have made. Thank you very much.
Linda W.

Nice Letter from a Survivor's Son
My name is Frank A, and my mother is a surviving Lymphoma Cancer patient. She is currently attending UTSW medical center for a bone marrow transplant procedure to prevent the chances of cancer coming back, and it is there we had the joy of learning about this project.
I wanted to send a brief email and tell you how great your thoughtfulness and efforts truly are. Please accept my deepest and most sincere thanks for the beautiful caps, my mother has fallen in love with them. She was warmed to hear the story, and fully appreciated the gesture of your project with a meaning so grand behind it.
My mother's name is Gregoria, she becomes an inpatient very soon for her transplant, any prayers would be very much appreciated for her successful and speedy procedure and recovery.
May the memory of Joyce Schmitt live on forever, and may God continue to watch over us and lead us to the cure one day very soon.
Thank you again.

A thank you from a 'capper'.
I wanted to thank you for the hats that are crochet or knitted that you supply to Texas
oncology in Plano. As a patient there, you have kept my head warm for almost a year and half.
I picked up my second hat today because the first one was looking well worn. What a blessing these caps are to the patients.
Thank You and Blessings!

John, we miss your mom a lot too. We went on a trip with the senior center the other day and one of us said that Joyce would have loved to have been with us. We all knew that she was with us, laughing at us and with us. We can all feel her presence at different times.
God Bless you too, John.

Another Thank you
Here is a note that Vivian received and Vivian's answer to her.
DEAR VIVIAN, I AM A FRIEND OF JOYCE THAT YOU HAD SENT A CHEMO CAP TO.
I AM LETTING YOU KNOW THAT I AM DOING WELL AND HAVE MADE A GOOD RECOVERY. I NOW HAVE A FRIEND THAT WILL BE GOING THROUGH CHEMO. I WOULD LIKE HER TO HAVE A CAP. I WILL SEND A CONTRIBUTION TO COVER YARN AND MAILING COSTS. SO I NEED YOUR MAILLING ADDRESS. I THOUGHT I WOULD BE ABLE TO KNIT BUT I HAVE NAURAPATHY IN MY FINGERS. I SHARED THE STORY OF YOUR CAP PROJECT WITH SO MANY. I ENJOYED MY CAP AND I KNOW MY FRIEND WILL TOO.
SINCERELY, ROSE MARY F
Hello, Rose Mary. I remember sending the cap. We are so glad that you are doing well. We would love to send a cap to your friend. What color would she like? Also would she like one to sleep in and one to wear outside?
Just give me your mailing address and I will send the caps to you. Our project is all about giving the caps that we make to the people who need and want them.

Another Note of Thanks
I want you to know that I have enjoyed two of your chemo caps which I got from a box at UT Southwestern Infusion area. I have been in chemotherapy for 5 months and of course, lost my hair. Your caps have been soft and comfortable, and have kept my head warm at home. Thank you for making these lovely caps for us. The effort and thought are greatly appreciated.
American Cancer Society Patient Navigator at Parkland sends a 'thank you'.
Hello, my name is Andrea Wright and I work in the Parkland Oncology Clinic. I am a social worker and work as an American Cancer Society Patient Navigator at Parkland. We have a resource room right in our lobby and we receive caps from your group! I just wanted to thank everyone who makes the caps and let you all know how beautiful they are! I was struck by the story on the blog that said Joyce was tired of itchy, uncomfortable hats and that is why these caps are made of such soft yarn. I receive caps from other groups as well, however the one's from Joyce's chemo caps are usually the softest and prettiest and go the fastest! Well, I just wanted to let you know how appreciative I am as well as are the patient's here who receive them, most of whom don't have the resources to go out and buy a lot of hats when they lose their hair. Thanks so much to all who make the beautiful caps!!They are truly needed!!
Thanks,
Andrea Wright, LMSW
